The times we are in are much like a plane flying in white-out conditions where it is hard to tell up from down or even to gauge speed or orientation. Under such conditions instinct *will* lead you astray.

Recall for example, JFK, Jr. who lost control of the small plane he was piloting and died, along with his two passengers in the summer of 1999.

The NTSB report noted that his, "failure to maintain control of the airplane during a descent over water at night… was a result of spatial disorientation", noting further that he was not qualified to fly a plane by "instruments only."

How many of *us* will be deceived by relying on our natural instincts and senses as we descend at night over the sea that is worldly wisdom? How many of us are qualified to fly by the instrument of God's Word? How many of us will take others down with us in our certainty that we can navigate by our own sight without the fixed, guiding compass of Christ?
