I quite agree with you. I believe it takes a lot of pride to make wholesale alterations to the word of Yahweh in this manner. Pride and presumption are characteristics that largely define those who profess to be Christians in this hour. We should all be appalled and deeply grieved at such arrogance that will not even shrink back at re-writing the holy word of Yahweh.

————–
New International Version (NIV)

Luke 12:5-7

Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. 7 Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

—————————-
The Message (MSG)

Luke 12:6-7
“What’s the price of two or three pet canaries? Some loose change, right? But God never overlooks a single one. And he pays even greater attention to you, down to the last detail—even numbering the hairs on your head! So don’t be intimidated by all this bully talk. You’re worth more than a million canaries.

Now, the meaning of the passage still remains… but really, canaries and sparrows are two different animals. And where did the "don't listen to the bullies" part come from because there is no equivalent. The Message translators have added things.

"You're worth more than a million canaries." While this may be true, they've beefed the original words up with emotional language making it 100x more dramatic.
I think the bible should be left alone and not be stretched too much from it's original words, it is a divine book after all and should be shown respect.
