The Importance of Forgiveness : Matthew 18 21-35
Quote from Vincent on August 27, 2025, 3:33 pmIn Matthew 18: 21-35 Jesus shares a parable about The Unmerciful Servant to demonstrate how important the act of forgiveness is.
The king had a servant who owed him money and demanded he pay what was owed. The king ordered that all he owned, and his wife and children should be sold to repay the debt. The servant begged the king for mercy and the king was merciful and forgave the debt.
But later this same servant found someone who owed him a debt and chose not to forgive the debt, but instead had the man thrown into prison till he paid the debt that was owed.
When the other servants saw what had happened, they were outraged and went and told their master everything that had happened.
“Then the master called the servant in. ‘You wicked servant,’ he said, ‘I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?’ In anger his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed.
“This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.”
This is such a powerful message on the importance of forgiveness. I will post three very important messages on forgiveness.
